T and J are troopers!

So, yesterday, I decided I needed these canisters I saw at T.J.Maxx. So I drug the twins to 5 Marshall's/Homegoods/ T.J.Maxx's before I found the complete set. Aaah VICTORY!

I was "that" lady today...

yup, took the twins to school in snowman pajama pants, tennis shoes and a RMWC sweatshirt. Then I ran to the grocery store for "just one thing". I look across the street eye the dollar store, so I pop in there too. By now it is ten and I am in the same parking lot as Tuesday Morning, so sure, I won't see anyone right when they open! Ummmm, yeah, I was "that" lady, and I got "that" look from the mommies that trickled in from Little Gym next door.

Good news is:
*Dollar store had Airborne squid soap! (I bought ten)

*Tuesday Morning had a cute item to add to my pink swap.

*Tuesday Morning also had a great selection of children's books! And they were only 3 and 4 dollars a piece! (Did I mention we have 8 parties in one 4 day weekend?)

After nap time I am off to Marshalls to see what I can score there.

J's sheer joy!

"Look Mama! Daddy taught me how to skid on ice!"

I will still be wearing shorts on Saturday.

600 closings and counting, part of the rail system shut down, wrecks everywhere. Yeah, we here in Dallas are NOT prepared for ice. Paul, who grew up in Westchester (New York), cannot stop laughing.

Sugar, this is NOT a good look for you.

WHERE IS HER STYLIST? Or full length mirror? Or someone? Anyone? No one told her "Um, honey? You really need to go change."

Snow Day? Yes or No...

Today it is cold. Actually it is freezing. Several schools, along with T's ballet class, are closed today for a "snow day".
AH HA HA HA HA Ha

If anything, there will be an ice storm!
YIKES!

And I bet cha I will be in shorts by Saturday.
Ahhh, Texas.

4th in the 4th

I was tagged by
Steph to post my 4th picture in my 4th folder on my computer!
This picture is from Christmas eve 2008. I had just had a crazy, crazy day. Home made candy for twelve. Wrapping Santa gifts without kids seeing. And don't even get me started on the Christmas eve service the twins sang in. (They, meaning mainly J, behaved horribly). I was on my gazillionth glass of wine, after a awful day. Notice the goofy glazed over grin?
The rules are easy!
1. Go to the fourth folder where you keep your pictures on your computer.
2. Post the 4th picture.
3. Explain the photo.
4. Tag 4 fellow bloggers to join in the fun!

I now tag:

New twist

On an old favorite. It is cold, and wet outside. The the twins wanted a peanut butter and jelly, and I wanted them to have something warm. The griddle was out, so I grilled it in butter! Yummy! J ate two!

OUCH 2

So, this morning, I was thinking that I could probably go to church with the help of make-up.

Then... J decided to crawl into bed for a cuddle.

WHACK! His head hit the same spot, a bit to the left. It will be a week before I can go out without sunglasses. Which are going to really hurt since all this trauma is right on the bridge of my nose! The space under my left eye is very swollen, and red, yellow, and purple. I look like I have been in a fight! Which is VERY unlike me. WHAT are people going to think? This stinks!

Update: Just went to rent some movies. Yeah, the sunglasses thing hurts, and makes my eyes water. So I push them on top of my head and BOY did I get looks! I see a looong week ahead.

Saturday, January 24, 2009

OUCH!

I may have one black eye. Possibly two. Definitely a cracked nose.

Story? Well...ya know how you will go and check on your sleeping children? And ya know how little kids kick in their sleep? Well, I leaned in to kiss J as his leg/knee went flying up. I was a bloody mess. (And you know how well I deal with blood.)

I am not having a happy Saturday so far. My nose is really sore, and I have a whopping headache. It doesn't help that Paul doesn't think it's a big deal.

"You just got punched in the nose. You don't need to see a plastic surgeon to make sure your nose is still aligned properly. I have been hit in the nose tons and it just adds character."

Hmmphf! Character my A**!

p.s. I went to see my Dad, an Orthopedic Surgeon. Nose is NOT broken. Just bruised.

An award! Yipee!

Is this normal?

This morning T went to go use the bathroom. When it came time to flush, nothing. She yelled "Dad the toiwets bwoken!" Paul replied that he would be right there. Then I hear J shuffle in the bathroom. I hear the lid being removed....an "Hmmmm. I dink I need to jus do dis" then the lid back on, and FLUSH!
And no, he has never seen the chain being re attached before.
Update: I just talked to my Mom, and apparently 4 year old's just do this kind of stuff. My brother, who had never seen a tire changed before, showed the maid how to change her tire. And for a second, I swore I had a child prodigy...

WOW!

Before. Dated- and it is freaky how all her girls have the same hair.
SO much better! Still too long, but sooooo much better! Now we just need to do something about Kate Gossling. I hate that little hacked, spiked thing at the back of her hair.

The View

K. I know this is going to offend allot of you, but this just cracked me up. I was looking for a picture of Michelle from The View today, and stumbled across this. I just had to post this because I am always forcing Paul to watch their show, and he always mumbles this under is breath. Secretly I would love a big family. In fact, 5 sounds ideal. I am also impressed that they are debt free. And although their children seem a tad bit naive, I love their old fashioned values!

As soon as I find a picture from today I will post. She changed her hair, and it is SO much better!

So...

our new Reverend, who was recently ordained, got his collar and is proud to wear it. (Rightfully so). He went to go and see the movie Doubt. Collar and all. The response at the theatre? An applause. Gotta love it!

How neat!

I am watching history people. In HDTV! So amazing. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Hey, on another note- Bush is moving close by. (Around a mile from our house) Kinda cool! I have met him a few times (They are a friend of some of my family) Personally, liked him in that "good ole' boy" kinda way...

New T.V!

Yeah! I finally jumped and got a flat screen. Wooo Hoooo! I LOVE it. What a difference. Why did we wait so long?

These kids...

never cease to embarrass me. Today at service, J was being pretty good! Then came time for communion. The little ones are encouraged to dip their wafers. We have been taking communion with the twins for awhile. They KNOW the drill. I don't know what to call the person that presents the wine, so I will call him the church sommelier. Anyway...
I was taking Communion, minding my own business, and sommelier guy has a look of horror. Yeah, J did not dip. He dunked (he was wrist deep) and then he SWIRLED! Yup, that's my kid!

Please Pray

I just found out about baby Harper. I personally know what this family is going through. I was on hospital bed rest from week 14 until week 28.5 when they took the twins. Both were very sick and in NICU for 2 months!

Pleas visit her blog, read her story, and PRAY!

This is what I have been listening to all afternoon.

click click click swoosh splat "I'm o.k. Mama"
Then repeat.

What is it you ask? Her cheap plastic dress up high heels. Yup, you read that right. Some one gave T plastic high heels for dress up. Well, she better enjoy them because this is her last pair of stripper shoes! When you pick up a pair of mini lucite heels, who thinks "Those would be PERFECT for a 4 year old!"?

Chocolate Soup discount

I was just there and I can forward you this coupon and you can use it every day until the 19th! I just bought J a smocked outfit for $9.00! And that was without the coupon.

Yesterday

was such a full day! From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., on the go. A thank you lunch for co-chairing the Feast of Lights at Cafe Pacific. So yummy! I had not been there in ages. (Probably because it would spell disaster with the twins) Then errands and back to Church for children's choir practice and dinner. Everything went well except for T getting NAILED in the head by a little boy and his bell. Who's idea was it to have ity bitties ring bells AND sing in front of an audience? I guess they know what they are doing, but I think I will have some very funny stories in the next few weeks.

T is a natural...

at least that is what her ballet teacher said. I think it is from watching hours of Angelina Ballerina. Also, she is such a girly girl. Did y'all know she still prefers to walk on her tip toes?

I like the class too! When I walked into the lobby after I got T set up in the classroom, every single parent pulled out a bottle of wine from their handbags! The only parent without wine was a Dad and he brought cups! Now that's what I am talking about! While your little girls are getting their groove on, the Mommies are getting their drink on! Is this unusual? I should mention this is a 6 p.m. class.

*****Note: no children were in danger of their Mommies drinking too much to drive.

I just

made J laugh so hard he peed himself. Hope I didn't cause any long term damage, because I laughed until I cried! I really needed a picture of his expression. Priceless. Laughing his little behind off, then stone still, eyes like saucers, wet pants, face beet red.

J-"Dat jus not funny Mama. I mean you jus keep singin that funny song! An..an...an...I wet mysef! Dat bad Mama!"

Me- laughing so hard I can hardly make out what he is saying.

J- "Maaaamaaaa! Stop dat!"

I am telling you people, this is what it's all about. Off to do some laundry!

If you don't want

to go to sleep ever again. Watch Paranormal State at 2 a.m. Then for good measure watch the episode with the possessed 26 year old. Wow. They perform an exorcism. Terrifying! This girls face actually changes into another face. Now I will be up until daylight with Animal Planet.

Ballet

T starts ballet tomorrow! But what am I going to do with J? I guess he can color. Hmmm. Poor guy. Whose idea was it to put them in different activities? Oh, yeah. ME! I smell chaos. Big time. Tears, and foot stomping, and begging to go home.

CRAZY!

This woman is flat out crazy! I mean listen to how she talks to Barbara! Come on! Even my most conservative friends think that she is a whack job.

I am not naming her so that this post won't come up in a google search. I want no association.

If you are a fan, sorry if I offend.

I met Kappa Prep today!

(Cute Lilly dress the T got last Summer)

I went to Northpark today to meet Kappa Prep! (Monograms and Manicures) She is super sweet, and she was very sweet to the twins. And I don't know why, but the twins were running around every where! It was if I had them hopped up on sugar! Yeah, hopped up on sugar to meet Hopsy! Ha ha ha ha

Anyway, today was her first shift at Lilly Pulitzer, and I bought T a really cute sweater. There was a darling shift I would have loved, but they did not have her size. Oh well... Now that I have Hopsy there, I will hopefully be the first to know about markdowns! (Hint, hint)

On to sales...Chocolate Soup has a WHOPPER going on! 50% off all lowest price! Also, if you are on their e-mail list, they sent you a coupon for 33% off your total. So I added it up, and I paid less that 10% of the original cost. Wooo hoooo! Happy dance...Happy dance

So...

I have this great new camera. Great pictures, with so much to blog about, but I lost the cord to load the pictures! Just like me...Oh, well!

So here is what I have been busy with. I co-chaired Feast of Lights at SMAA on Tuesday. Basically that meant going shopping for all the food, and watch the volunteers put up decorations. I did put together some cheese platters. Oh, I also helped with the room layout. Ya know, I actually did quite a bit, come to think of it! Anyway, fun, but whew, am I tired.

Funny note...the chair and I thought we understood what twelfth night was...we googled it, and now I am proud to say we know the whole story! Did you know it does not say there were 3 kings? The Bible only says 3 gifts...they don't know for sure how many kings were there!

Then yesterday...I sat on the couch and relaxed. Today I get to clean the house and catch up on laundry. I know the glamorous life of a SAHM. Can you believe 5 years ago I was peddling Chanel couture, and had not an eyelash out of place? Funny when Paul looks at me like I am an alien sometimes. I look like a HOT mess most of the time. (Unless I leave the house)

Wow, a baby (babies) changes everything.

Forever ago...

I got set up with this guy. Yup, the one from Baywatch. Needless to say, NOT a match. And he was not very nice.

Flipping through the channels...Now he is on a vh1 show called "confessions of a teen idol"

Hmmmmm.....or Ha ha ha?

Brrrrrrr

This is what it looks like in Dallas today. In Highland and University Park the trees are covered in ice. When I got home, to Lakewood, even more so, and on power lines. Yikes! I hope it warms up, as predicted. Watch. By Wednesday, I will be in shorts again...

Zoo

Well...only two more days and the the twins are back to school! Yeah for me! So, in the meantime, I have been trying to entertain now 4 year old twins. So, guess what I did? I drove to Mockingbird Station and took the train to the zoo. Frankly...I was really scared I might get mugged when we got close to the zoo, and we had some stops in Oak cliff, but nope, we were fine. I think I will do it again...half the fun (for the kids) was the train ride itself.

Busy time for me until after twelfth night at SMAA, which I am co-chairing this year. Happy Sunday!

2009

Happy New Year! Last night was very low key, at home, just us 4.

Uneventful, until midnight.....

Has anyone seen that movie with Brad Pitt when he is in Mexico with the Mexicans shooting guns in the air? What goes up...DOES come down, you idiots!

It sounded like a WAR ZONE people! Dallas news story to follow...

Dallas Woman Struck By New Year's Eve Gunfire
ReportingBud Gillett DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ―
KTVT / KTXA

Police had warned people not to fire guns in the air to celebrate the New Year. While numbers for Dallas aren't in, Fort Worth police responded to 257 random gunfire calls overnight.
Two North Texas women are still shaken about what happened just minutes into 2009. They narrowly missed a falling bullet, fired to celebrate the New Year.
Latrina Woods and Victoria Obamehinti had just left a club and were stopped at a red light in Deep Ellum when, at midnight, someone chose to ring in the New Year with gunfire.
"I was just so scared. I was like, 'what if I'm shot and just can't feel it 'cause I'm so panicky'," Obamehinti told CBS 11 News.
Obamehinti said she just couldn't believe what had happened. "And it like grazed my friend. It hit here right here [pointing to her shoulder]. And the bullet was just lying in the seat. It was all hot and everything."
Woods was grazed on the chest and shoulder when a falling bullet pierced the windshield of the car. Woods told CBS 11 News that she didn't realize the bullet struck her until her shoulder started to swell.
Obamehinti said at midnight there were sounds of gunshots everywhere.
Woods was not seriously hurt and officers let her keep the bullet as a reminder of how people can get seriously hurt from celebratory gunfire.
After the bullet hit the car the women said they made their way to a nearby bar until the shooting died down. The awfulness of the situation hit home when they went home.
"I was scared too because I was worried about my sister, to see if she was hurt or anything," Victoria's sister, Valencia Allen, explained.
But things weren't much better when the women got home. The sound of gunfire could be heard in the neighborhood just a few blocks away.
One young neighbor decided it was wise to celebrate indoors. "In this area, around about 11:40 until about 1:45, it ain't nothing but crazy people out here," said Darren Mollett.
Obamehinti said she's heard the warnings, too. "Wherever you're at on New Year's be in a 12 o'clock… and now I see why. I should've listened."
Discharging a firearm, in any big Texas city, is a class a misdemeanor. If someone is hurt by the gunfire the charge could be bumped up to a felony, depending on the depth of the injury.
