Dear mean guy

at T.J. Maxx, I called another store, and since this is a glass canister that holds food, thus a safety issue, you ARE supposed to exchange my canister!

I explained that it is heavy glass with a pewter top, and where it broke is thin like a Christmas ornament, she said no doubt!

HA! I KNEW IT!

Cleaning fairy...

Please come to my house!

My day started off with one of my canisters breaking, yeah, it got hit with a wooden spoon! And remember what a pain it was to find them? And T.J. Maxx won't exchange because they said that they are a discount store, I get what I pay for, etc.

So...all my cleaning enthusiasm blew out the window.

On another note, do not try to substitute brown sugar for regular in your pancakes. Yuck.

Brrrrrr.....

So, I was wearing shorts on Thursday. AND I spent hours planting my garden. Tonight we are expecting a low of 30!! Now I have to cover all those beds tonight.

I hope next week warms up.

Spring is in the air...

(Springtime in Savannah)

and the spiders are soon to follow.

Last spring three crazy things happened to me in one week.

First, I was outside watching a movie on the computer one night. Well, I had consumed a few with girlfriends earlier, so I was feeling good, watching my movie and TOTALLY engaged. Well...my hand is hanging down and my cat runs under my hand. Then I realize my cat is in my lap. I look over...knocking tables, chairs, cat flying, scrambling to the stairs. Yep. Raccoon looking at me like I am crazy. Then for the next week I convinced myself I had a close call with a rabid raccoon! Looking back, he was probably just young.

Second... It is a pretty day so I have the doors open to air out the house. Well, they were building a McMansion across the street at the time. There were workers everywhere at all times. But that day, none. How did I know this? Because I went to move my vacuum and put it away, I accidentally dropped it. So I put it away, and walk back through the hall. I notice a HUGE brown fuzzy...flower? NO a tarantula that was under the vacuum when I dropped it. I desperately searched for someone to remove it. Even though dead, it took 2 hours to get a bucket on top, cast iron skillet on that, then some bricks for good measure. Paul came home from work to get it for me.

Third...I am pretty skittish at this point. I have just had an allergist appointment for J. He has an epi-pen for some of his allergies. One of these are bees and wasps. I had just set up the slip n slide. Went to get my tea, look up, and my little 3.5 year old in in the middle of a dozen of the biggest wasps I had ever seen! With stealth like movement I saved my baby. They turned out to be cicada killers. Harmless, but HUGE.

Cicada Killers.

Lets see what happens this year!

Ash Wednesday

I am giving up a very bad habit for Lent. Paul is giving up Starbucks. At the Family service today, they told the little kids to do something extra. So they are going to make their beds.

How was your Ash Wednesday?

Lilly love!

I just got this for T for Easter! Cute, cute, cute!
I just won this off E-bay! Wooo hooo! FINALLY, I won something!!! T is very excited, and is already making room in her closet.

About the dogs...

There is an Austin contact if interested. Also, it was suggested it may be a scam...I did a snopes search and came up with nothing. I will send an e-mail out to the one listed to confirm.

Thanks for the heads up! I will keep you posted.

These babies need a home

Sorry everyone. The e-mail came up invalid. Stupid schemers messing with our hearts!

UPDATE:I just found out the story is, indeed true, and dogs have been adopted. The e-mail came out invalid probably because she received over ten thousand responses!

Poor kitty...

So, last night I noticed Mack had a little nick on his hip. This morning, after he went outside for his "business", I looked at it again. Well, I faint at blood, but infections fascinate me. Well...his nick was now a pencil sized hole. I pressed on the top of it.

Lets just say I threw up in my mouth a little.

Holy cow! Now it is the size of a nickle, and VERY infected. And so deep I swear I see organs in there...

So fast forward to the vet appointment. I swear this guy is the CSI of animal injuries.

Vet: "Exactly 5 days ago, at night, Mack wandered unknowingly into another cats territory. Said cat jumped Mack and bit him. Then Mack was traumatized from the incident...yada yada"

Ummm what? Was he in my bushes with night vision goggles? He went into how he could tell from the way the hole is,no defense wounds, etc... But at that point I was getting dizzy, faint, and feeling like I might puke again, so I asked him to stop.

And,I really did not need to see him put that tube thingy inside the hole. Uck. Did not help that J was saying "Wow. Wook dey is putting dat thing WAAAAY up in there!" eyes as big as saucers with a goofy grin.

So... thank goodness I saw it. He could had lost his leg had it been 5 more days. Now I have to keep it open for ten days by massaging it so it drains. Otherwise, the vet threatened to put a drainage tube in it. He tried to do that today, but I really can't handle that, so we are trying this first. So gross!!!!

TMI? Sorry, but I needed to share.

Party planning

I am planning the twins party which will be this spring. Since they have Christmas birthday's, I thought this would be more fun. Ya know, break it up a bit. Anyway, I just decided to do a Carnival party! I just love the cake above! And I hope Paul can make all the fun stuff/ games. here is what I have so far...

Ticket booth

Ring toss game

Bean bag toss game

Fishing game

Any other ideas?

I am planning on having it here:
This picture only shows 2/3rd's of the yard. On the left is the driveway, where we could put the ticket booth. To the left of that, we could put the bounce house. Then the games in the center, and the food and tables to the right of the sidewalk.

What do y'all think? And I have about 3 months to get it all together. Yes, I am a BIG planner. I always need my ducks in a row.

One girl's trash...

is an other's treasure. I understand. But I JUST put all of the junk from the garage that I cleaned out this weekend on the curb. No kidding, within minutes, several cars FULL of people throwing my old junk into the back of their trucks. The funniest thing so far? The two men that are grinning from ear to ear and high five-ing each other over a heating pad.

Please Pray for...

The Macs.

I learned of their story from Tickled Pink and Green. This story hits so close to home for me, considering how gravely ill the twins were when they were born.

Basically, they took their 11 month old daughter in to check an ear infection, and were immediately sent to the hospital for stage 4 cancer. Her battle lasted just a few weeks, and she is now with Him. I cannot even imagine the raw grief that her parents feel. As I type this I am watching my beautiful daughter playing, and I start weeping. May God please bless my children with long, healthy, happy lives. We have been so fortunate, and I give thanks every day.

Also, keep Hopsy in your prayers at Monograms and Manicures. Her cousin was in a horrible ski accident.

Hello strangers!

We are having a 5 day weekend here at the Pettit home due to parent teacher conferences and Presidents day. Speaking of, T's teacher told me she needs speech therapy. Apparently, the other children cannot understand her, so it is affecting her playtime. The teacher has her repeat what she says when she answers out loud, so now she only says "I don't know". Poor thing already has a complex.

On to other news, I am pretty sure we are going to move to U.P. next summer. It just makes sense. All my friends are there, and it is so safe. Paul had it last night when we had police helicopters circling close by AGAIN. (We are too,too close to the "rough" part of East Dallas) Love Lakewood, but I would love to live in a neighborhood where my kids can play safely outside. And we could go to the U.P. pool, and the number one reason: The Schools!

Oh, did you know if you loose the cord to upload pictures for your camera, it is hard to find a new one? Surely, I am not the first person to loose a cord!

Sick

Paul, J, and I are all soooo sick. T has been such a good helper! I see a new Barbie in her future. Nurse Barbie, perhaps?
P.S. Last night, J came to Paul covered. "Daddy, I leaked. My throat and mouth is not workin' cuz I twied to swollow, and it came out anyway! I jes think my mouth is broken... it won't stop leakin'."
Like I said they have not been sick like this in two years, so it is all quite confusing to them.

Copy and send to childless friends

So, this gal, Leah Segedie, at http://www.bookieboo.com/,just started following me on twitter. I went to check out her blog, and found this article.

I promise, tonight...

I will post pictures. I got a brand new camera from Santa, but lost the cord to upload pictures! Who knew it would be so hard to find a new one?

On to other news, T is home today, and we are watching princess movies, eating "Dora" noodle soup and pink jello.

Ick

I woke up (at 3 a.m.) to T running down the hall, puking all the way. She has not been sick like that since she was a baby, so she had no idea what to do! I tried to get her to do it in the toilet, and that did NOT go over well... I guess it is kinda gross concept. I mean, you are already sick, and then you are supposed to stick your head in the toilet? Uck. So a trash bag lined trash can it is. I hope she feels better soon! I, on the other hand, will spend the day washing sheets, rugs, ect...
Sigh... I thought we were going to go and do something fun today!

Paul and J went to go see Coraline. Hopefully, if we keep them separated, J will not get sick.

Fingers crossed.

Cut!

I chopped my hair, and I LOVE it! Off to Junior League Volunteer Fair, then exchanges, then the zoo, AGAIN! Wow, we sure are getting our money worth, with our zoo membership!

Speaking of, I think I want to work at the zoo for my JLD placement next year.

Promise to post pictures soon.

Whew!

Tonight, at dinner, at SMAA, we had a close call. T ran to the bathroom while I was talking to some Moms. We ALL heard a blood curdling scream! T had tried to open the door to the bathroom and got her itty bitty tiny finger caught! I had to put my boot on the wall for leverage. And I yelled "HOLY S****" in front of everyone. After a hefty pull, release...THANK GOD! No blood! Whew!

New Year, New Hair

So, my Mom decided she really hates my color (which is naturally a VERY dark brown). So she decided I just HAVE to go and get my hair cut and colored again at my old salon...(somewhere along the way I was having a hard time justifying $300 plus for the combo). So she said she will pay for the upkeep indefinitely..

Today I got chestnut highlights. Thursday is my cut. I want a change. I like Katie's cut, but with longer bangs.
Maybe like this? Anyone else y'all can think of?

This is Paul's idea of entertaining the twins.

Paul has a childlike obsession with airplanes. He can watch them take off and land for hours. So he takes the twins yesterday for a "fun" afternoon. I just hope that they don't have any permanent hearing loss!
