"Sometimes two grown-up men love each other like your mommy and daddy love each other. S has two daddies who love each other and S, so S doesn't have a mommy."

Goodness, I don't envy you that conversation. My friend who is a principal of an elementary always tells me kids only ask what they are wondering about - answer only what they ask. Don't offer more info than your kid asked for. In this case, I would tread veeeery lightly!

Different families are made up of different members. Some have a mommy and a daddy, some have just a mommy or two daddies or just a grandma or aunt. What's important is that all the children are loved as much as you are loved by mommy and daddy. I think simple and honest answers work best with young children.

Good luck...you'll have to let us know how it goes!

I love your reply so much! My parents probably would have traumatized me or confused me with their answer.

OMG that would be so hard to explain! Good luck. I like many of the responses on here.

So sorry that you were not able to come to dinner the other night. I was looking forward to meeting you. Hopsy had wonderful things to say about you and the twins!
